If you have endometriosis and are trying to start a family, then you are no stranger to the difficulties this condition presents. The pain, uncertainty, and what can seem like endless doctors visits to treat the symptoms and plan a course of action to take can wear you down, especially if you are also trying to get pregnant. You may be wondering, is there anything you can do to help increase your chances of conceiving?

Right now, there is no evidence that taking one certain medicine will improve fertility with endometriosis or increase your chances of getting pregnant. But there are other measures you can take that can give you a better chance of fighting this condition and creating the family you’re hoping for!

Living a healthy lifestyle will help if you are trying to get pregnant. With endometriosis, you want to be as healthy as possible so your body can maintain a normal hormonal balance and inflammation you may have can be reduced. Being in tune with your body, eating right, and living your best life will also help get your body ready to carry your baby and help them grow strong! It is important to maintain a healthy weight, engage in moderate exercise on a regular schedule, and eat a diet that contains lots of fruits, vegetables, lean protein and whole grains.

It is important to recognize that women with endometriosis do have a higher rate of infertility. If you have endometriosis and are having difficulty getting pregnant, infertility treatments such as Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) and In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) can increase your chances of having a successful pregnancy. Endometriosis is also associated with preterm delivery, placenta complications, cesarean deliveries, and preeclampsia, but many women who have the condition still get pregnant and deliver healthy, happy babies each day!
