How a brave couple used IVF combined with Preimplantation Genetic Testing to ensure they won’t pass down a genetic disease
Melanie and Gregory are two of the nicest people you could ever meet. After five years of marriage, they took a definitive step towards parenthood by joining forces with Dr. Marcus Rosencrantz and his team at Reproductive Health and Wellness Center. Melanie and Greg had never tried to conceive because Greg suffers from a genetic disease that has a 50% chance of being passed down to his child. The way to prevent that disease from being passed down is by doing IVF with Preimplantation Genetic Testing. With IVF and PGT, embryos that are in the laboratory can be tested for a specific genetic disease before being put back inside the uterus. This technology lets us know which embryos to use and which embryos not to use.
Dr. Rosencrantz and the team at RHWC all worked together, quickly and efficiently, to make this dream of parenthood happen. A single IVF cycle resulted in several embryos, 3 of which did not have this genetic disease. We were all so excited, but then came even better news, Melanie was pregnant after just one embryo transfer cycle. Fantastic!
Cole Jonathan was just born and we couldn’t be happier. He is so beautiful, and we all look forward to seeing him make his mark on the world.
Thank you so much Melanie, Greg, and baby Cole for letting us be a part of your fertility journey.
