Infertility is a struggle that many endure in silence. Although infertility is common, affecting approximately one-sixth of all people, lack of awareness leaves many feeling alone. Reproductive Health & Wellness Center (RHWC) is determined to change that by spreading awareness during National Infertility Awareness Week (NIAW), April 21-27.
National Infertility Awareness Week
National Infertility Awareness Week has been observed since 1982 to raise awareness of issues surrounding infertility. Advocating for legislative change to make fertility treatments more accessible has been an important goal of NIAW.
It’s especially important this year because of the recent Alabama Supreme Court decision in LePage v Mobile Infirmary Clinic that sets a dangerous precedent deterring clinicians from offering IVF and other fertility services. It’s crucial that we protect access to fertility treatments, and important for patients, practitioners, and the public to let our elected officials know that infertility is something we care about.
More than just legislative change, NIAW is also about raising awareness of infertility and how it affects those experiencing it. There’s still a lot of stigma and shame attached to infertility, which keeps many people from feeling comfortable enough to share what they’re going through.
At RHWC, we know it’s important to normalize conversations around infertility and offer support to those who are struggling to have a family. The more we talk about how common infertility is, the more it opens doors for both greater support and increased access to treatment.
Informative Infertility Blog Posts
One of the ways RHWC is spreading infertility awareness is through our informative blog posts on a variety of infertility related topics. We encourage you to spend some time exploring our blogs, where we talk about specific health conditions affecting fertility, like endometriosis. We also share tips for tough conversations, information about fertility tests and treatments offered at RHWC, dietary advice to help boost your fertility, and much more.
If you find a post that speaks to you, please share it on social media and anyone you think might find it helpful, including friends, family, your partner, and your elected officials.

Patient Education
At RHWC, we know that knowledge is empowering and we strive to educate our patients along every step of their fertility journey. From helping you understand underlying health conditions that impact your fertility to lifestyle changes you can make to boost your chances of success, we make sure you have all the information you need.
We also offer wellness services like spiritual counseling, fertility therapy, acupuncture, and yoga to help you cope with the stress of infertility. Our patients become experts on their own fertility journeys, and they often share their knowledge and experiences with others. The more we all discuss infertility, the farther infertility awareness will spread.

RHWC Is Offering Special Financing In Honor of NIAW
At RHWC, we also know that financing is one of the biggest barriers to accessing fertility care. And while we believe that advocating for health insurance to cover fertility treatments is crucial, we also believe in doing all we can to help our patients access the treatment they need now to build their families. That’s why we’re offering special financing in April in honor of NIAW.
For the rest of the month, we’re offering 12-month interest-free financing for egg freezing and in vitro fertilization. It’s a great time to apply for financing and take advantage of an affordable way to pay for monthly fertility treatments. You can also call (949) 516-0606 to speak with a fertility finance expert.
If you aren’t personally experiencing infertility, odds are good that you know someone who is struggling. Let’s normalize conversations about the ways infertility impacts our lives and what we need to do to ensure everyone has access to fertility treatments. We invite all of you to #LeaveYourMark by participating in National Infertility Awareness Week along with everyone here at RHWC.
